Boxer Cycles Is Crowdfunding – Invest in a UK cargo bike manufacturer!
I was just talking last week about cargo bikes and how they’re still a novelty to see around here, when as luck would have it I found myself LinkedIn to a new cargo cycle company that look set to change that!
Boxer Cycles is a Poole based manufacturer of electric cargo bikes with a portfolio of products designed to meet the key markets in this burgeoning sector of cycling. In the last 12 months, Boxer has focused on making its three models, the Rocket, Shuttle and Cargo, mass production ready and it now seeks the investment to ramp up production and shift manufacturing from a direct sales model to a re-seller model and to move into the European and overseas markets.
Boxer is seeking to raise a minimum of £48,000 via the crowdfunding platform, Seedrs
Jeremy Davies, Boxer’s CEO says ‘We are proud of what we have achieved so far in that we have developed three unique models to production ready stage in less than 8 months. The early feedback we are receiving from our customers is exceeding our expectations and this gives us great confidence that Boxer has a great future ahead of itself.’
They’re also hot on safety - which we love - a 12 volt safety light and horn package can be fitted onto their cargo bikes which provide forward and rear facing turn signal indicators, rear tail lights with a brake light, powerful front headlights and a horn.
All of these features can be controlled with your thumb from our ‘instrument cluster’ mounted on the left of the handlebars next to the brake lever. These 12 volt lights are British made and are the same units that are fitted to Landrover Defenders and are far superior to any E-bike signalling systems on the market today.
With this optional system fitted, Boxer riders appear no different to a car when signalling – which provides the ultimate in cycle safety measures. Team this with your Cycle Alert tag and these British made E-bikes could possibly be the safest cargo bike in the world!
They’ve got some truly great products and a look at their crowdfunding video is well worth it:
Boxer says, “This is a unique opportunity to invest in a cycle that is going to change the way we travel around urban areas. Whether taking the kids to school or making deliveries, Boxer cycles are a new way of looking at leisure and travel and this is your opportunity of being involved from the start!”
Seeing more trikes and cargo bikes like this on the road can only be a good thing and here at Cycle Alert we’re wishing them every success. The cargo bike surely represents the urban transport vehicle of the future; not only do they present a cost-effective, green model with a wide variety of uses in the logistics and home-life arenas, they’re a nod to efficient cycle infrastructure that have been put in place. Put simply the use of cargo bikes are an indicator that the infrastructure works.
